This genuine NZ Greenstone Toki Koru Necklace combines two Maori spiritual designs.
The Toki (adze) was an important Maori implement, used to chip and shave wood and stone, and sometimes used as a weapon. In bone or greenstone jewellery (hei toki), it was traditionally worn by Maori elders, as it represented power, wisdom and authority.
The Koru carved into the side of the toki represents peace, tranquility, new beginnings, and positive change.
The toki pounamu measures approximately 4.8cm (1 7/8") long, and is beautifully bound at the top, and hangs from a long black adjustable cord. Made from Hokitika pounamu.
